Clear customs in Malé, and inside an hour you’re pulling up at Centara Grand Lagoon’s jetty, a short speedboat ride across the North Malé Atoll. Staff hand over a cold, jasmine-scented towel as you step onto the jetty and drink in the powder-white sand and water clear enough to see straight to the bottom. Yes, you’ve officially arrived in paradise.
Centara Grand Lagoon Maldives opened in April 2025, the fourth and newest of Centara’s Maldives resorts, and the second to launch in this atoll within six months, joined to its family-focused neighbour, Centara Mirage Lagoon, by a bridge, together forming what Centara calls The Atollia.
SLEEP
The resort’s 142 villas and residences span nine categories: one-bedroom overwater villas with private jacuzzis; three-bedroom overwater residences with pools and ocean-facing slides; and and generous one- and two-bedroom beachfront villas.
For a romantic escape, book the one-bedroom overwater villa: blonde woods, sea-blue tones, floor-to-ceiling windows that pull the eye straight to the water, a freestanding bathtub angled at the same view, a wooden screen separating the bed from the dressing area. Outside, a private pool takes up most of the deck, room enough for two loungers and a small table, where morning coffee sometimes comes with dolphins passing offshore.
EAT
Six dining venues cover every hour of the day. The Gallery opens for breakfast from seven and runs through lunch, flame tandoors and teppan grills alongside a live-station buffet. Bluefin takes over for a Mediterranean, seafood-led lunch and dinner, open-air cabanas and live music included. The Club keeps a steady rhythm from eight in the morning, a breakfast buffet giving way to afternoon tea at half past three and sundowners with canapés from half past five. Sunset Social opens at three and runs into the night, an overwater bar built around Maldivian-inspired small plates and cocktails, catamaran net seating positioned to watch the marine life below as the sky changes colour. Coco Drift keeps things easy by the pool from ten each morning, with swim-up cocktails and light bites. In-villa dining runs around the clock, for the nights when neither of you wants to leave your luxury villa.
Room rates include bed and breakfast as standard, with Half Board Plus, Full Board Plus and All-Inclusive available as upgrades. Half Board Plus includes daily breakfast at The Gallery, plus dinner at either The Gallery’s international buffet or Bluefin’s three-course Mediterranean menu, with two drinks per person included. Full Board Plus adds lunch to the same choice of venues. All-Inclusive goes further again: breakfast, lunch and dinner across The Gallery and Bluefin, a daily-restocked in-villa minibar, and a full beverage menu, wine, spirits, cocktails, coffee and tea, available across the resort’s bars including Sunset Social and Coco Drift.
Guests on Grand Lagoon’s Atollia meal plan get something extra: full dining access across the bridge to Centara Mirage Lagoon too, five more venues including Suan Bua for Thai, Acqua for Italian, and The Sailhouse for all-day international, alongside Rum Bar and Dolphin Bar. On other meal plans, dining stays within Grand Lagoon’s own restaurants.
DO
A full water sports centre, manta ray and whale shark excursions by boat, and snorkelling trips out to nearby reefs. A private dolphin cruise can also be arranged directly through the resort.

SPA AND WELLNESS
SPA Cenvaree Retreat runs on Asian and Ayurvedic traditions rather than a generic spa menu. Couples can book side by side: a Four Hands Massage, two therapists working in choreographed sync through Swedish, Shiatsu and reflexology techniques, or Shirodhara, a continuous stream of warm herbal oil poured over the forehead, traditionally used to ease insomnia and jet lag. For something gentler, the Shiro Abhyanga focuses purely on the scalp, neck and shoulders. The Serenity Pool sits in front of The Gallery, with steam and sauna facilities also on site, part of every day that belongs to no one but the two of you.
WEDDINGS AND VOW RENEWALS
Grand Lagoon runs full wedding and vow renewal packages, with venues across the beach, the lagoon and overwater settings, so a ceremony can be as intimate or as grand as a couple wants. Wedding planners handle the details, flowers, dining and entertainment tailored to each couple, and a spa treatment can be booked ahead of the big day itself. The candlelit private dinner by the ocean’s edge, arranged through the events team, is the meal couples talk about longest after they’ve left, a Maldivian menu served with nothing else on the beach but the two of you and the water. For a romantic breakfast, start the morning with an indulgent Grand Floating Breakfast, where you can choose from three inspired menus—Indian, Asian, or Arabic along with fresh juices, warm pastries, a tempting selection of hot dishes, and coffee or tea.

The resort sits close enough to Velana International Airport that the transfer barely eats into the holiday, a short speedboat ride rather than the longer transfers some Maldives resorts require. Grand Lagoon also forms one half of The Atollia, Centara’s connected multi-island destination, with guests granted access across the bridge to neighbouring Centara Mirage Lagoon, which includes its own water complex, lazy river, and kids’ club. It means a couple can keep the quiet of Grand Lagoon as their base while still having a livelier, family-friendly island within easy reach, extra choice without ever needing to change rooms.
