1. Puerto Princesa Subterranean River
Reputed to be the longest underground river in the world, about one kilometre of this 8.2 kilometre river beneath the St. Paul Mountain is open to visitors via paddleboat. Inside is pitch-black, but the boatman’s light reveals enormous cathedral-high caverns, fascinating limestone formations and not a few bats (try not to gape).
