Hotels don’t come much more unique than this. In 2018, the clever crowd behind Sweden’s famous Treehotel is set to open a brand new free-floating property on the Luleriver in Swedish Lapland.

Inspired by the timber-floating era when trees felled in local forests were transported downriver to be processed, the Arctic Bath hotel and spa centres around a rejuvenating four-degree bath. A year-round attraction, the river will freeze the hotel in place in winter to create an icy wonderland. Inside, couples will find a cosy hub of relaxation, with saunas, spa treatments, a restaurant, lounge and shop to explore, plus six minimalist guest cabins decked out in classic Scandi style.
Another impressive feature? With totally uninterrupted views of the night sky, Arctic Bath will hold the coveted title of being one of the coolest (pun intended) spots to see the Northern Lights.
