Once the iconic Charles Street Jail that housed high profile inmates including Malcolm X and The Boston Strangler, The Liberty still has the prison appearance, but not the vibe. Boasting contemporary style and advanced technology, all rooms and suites are luxuriously furnished. A favourite amongst locals and visitors, the hotel restaurant Clink. offers guests the unique opportunity to dine amongst the vestiges of prison cells.
Coolest fact: In 1973, prisoners revolted due to their poor living conditions. The jail was subsequently deemed inadequate to house them and in violation of the inmates’ constitutional rights. One can only imagine the reaction of those prisoners who have seen it now in its current glory.
