2. Chateau de Villandry, France
Chateau de Villanadry is the last of the great palaces of the Renaissance era, built in the awe-inspiring Loire Valley. Villandry is unique because it was not home to a king or courtesan but a finance minister, uncharacteristic of the time. The gardens over the years lost their original design but were recently restored to their original form, that of the romantic Renaissance era. The palace is very visitor-friendly holding exhibitions and events centred around the palace and her gardens, but couples may just want to take a long walk and soak in the beauty surrounding them.
