Pack your bags for one of the Gold Coast’s newest hotels — where laid-back luxury meets chic design, and fun is never far away.
The Dorsett Gold Coast overview:
Australia’s first Dorsett hotel opened in late December 2021 and blends sun-kissed coastal cool with a fun city vibe. The hotel’s golden-glazed, 53-storey tower is set within the Star Gold Coast’s entertainment and leisure precinct — a place never short on excitement thanks to three hotels, numerous world-class restaurants and bars, a theatre for musicals and shows, and a 24-hour casino! All the essential elements to ensure a memorable short break.
Sitting pretty on Broadbeach Island, the Dorsett Gold Coast is handy to everything this vibrant area has to offer. Within five minutes’ walk, you can be splashing through ocean waves or sipping a coldie at the award-winning Kurrawa Surf Club. Within ten, dining alfresco at one of the excellent bistros, cafes and restaurants lining the streets of Broadbeach or enjoying the live entertainment closer to home at Live on the Lawn, Garden Kitchen & Bar, The Star.
Shopaholics will get their kicks wandering the 400 stores and boutiques of Pacific Fair nearby. Or, to spread your sightseeing wings a little further, why not hop on a tram to spend time in neighbouring Surfers Paradise? It’s all about location, location, location!
With a colour palette inspired by the lush rainforests of the hinterland and the rolling ocean waves, a sense of calm is evoked on arrival and stays with you throughout the holiday.
The lobby is something to behold. Impressive sculpted-marble check-in desks and contemporary lounges and armchairs are enlivened by an incredible ‘chandelier’ whose delicate yet dynamic light-play dances across the entire space. Behind the lobby, Jin Cafe & Bar is the perfect spot for coffee, cocktails, or a glass of wine and a fully loaded charcuterie board. The name is a nod to the Chinese-Mandarin word for ‘golden’, a fitting detail in this gilded destination.
Slip down to the leisure deck on the 6th floor to Isoletto Pool Club for a dip and sip in heavenly surroundings. A 12-metre pool with daybeds, cabanas, and partly submerged ‘wet’ lounges, plus a restaurant dishing up succulent eats and delicious cocktails — I can’t think of a better way to immerse into holiday mode (as we certainly did!). The word ‘spectacular’ springs to mind.
Best room for two:
There are 313 well-appointed rooms with custom-designed furnishings and plush king or twin beds, marble bathrooms with walk-in showers, and cute designer touches in the light fittings and decor. Views take in the lush hinterland or iconic glitter strip below.
There’s such a clever use of space in all rooms, but the Deluxe and Executive options also have a balcony big enough for two to enjoy sunset cocktails. Spoil yourselves with an Executive Room for access to the fabulous Executive Lounge and its complimentary perks including a chef-prepared breakfast, all-day water, tea and coffee, and evening canapés and drinks. A great way to start your day and kick off your night out.
Food and drink:
Sure, you have the dozens of restaurants in central Broadbeach, but you really won’t have to leave the Star complex to eat. From Asian hawker-style food at Mei Wei Dumplings to delicious Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine at Uncle Su, a taste of Tokyo at Kiyomi, and traditional Italian dishes at Cucina Vivo, there’s a style to suit every couple. And don’t miss Nineteen at the Star for its stellar cocktails and dazzling rooftop location.
Couples will love:
There’s so much to love about this hotel. The unbeatable location. The wealth of dining and entertainment options. The luxe design touches. And the Executive Lounge with its complimentary treats and panoramic views. Book a blissful couple’s massage at Azure Spa & Fitness to top off your just-for-two Gold Coast escape.
