It’s the best of both worlds with 4-star accommodations amid the most ancient wilderness settings, perfect for that dreamy romantic getaway or honeymoon you’ve been searching for or simply hitting that reset button in your life.

You’ll find this World Heritage site in Tasmania’s premium wild areas of Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. There’s no town here, but that’s fine since you’ll have plenty to discover among the surrounding landscape with a perfect retreat found in your accommodations which range from cabins to chalets to campgrounds.

Accommodations

King Billy Suite

Choosing Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge for your getaway in Tasmania means you can also choose your accommodations. Get a prime view of wallabies and wombats mingling about the grounds and follow the lighted trails and boardwalks to your own private retreat.

For the ultimate in luxury, choose the King Billy Suites, expansive plans that provide separate sleeping and living areas with a double-sided wood fire and a large picture window affording you the best views on the grounds. The Spa Suites are ideal for romance with your own spa in-room. Spa Cabins are best when you have up to 5 people in your travel group, complete with verandas that give you a spectacular outlook of the forest. The Pencil Pine Cabins are closest to the main lodge grounds and are the standard options that still affords you many luxuries.

Wilderness

The natural beauty that surrounds this peaceful lodge is the main draw of course. With the change of seasons, it will look different on every visit. A stunning 1,545 metres above sea level, the fresh air and alpine enrichments are one of the biggest reasons to come.

Naturally though, the sights you’ll see when surrounded by unspoiled nature like this are purely once in a lifetime. Those that need to disconnect from their stresses (which is everyone at this time) will find new connections with the wildlife around the resort.

So, what will you discover here? Unique flora and fauna that can only be found in Tasmania, spectacular views, glacial lakes, and frolicking wildlife are just some of the things you can expect. Self-guided walks are available as are lodge activities like fly fishing, canoe trips, and wildlife tours, to name a few.

While there’s no nearby town to see, you won’t mind a bit when you check out the neighbouring attractions. Have the chance to feed Tasmanian devils, visit the national park, or discover Dove Lake. No matter which activities you choose, you’ll have an amazing time getting out there again.

If you love animals, you may want to bring a checklist to see which ones you’ll spot. Quolls, echidna, birds, Tasmanian devils, and platypus all call this lovely land home.

The Best of Both Worlds

Spend a day hiking about the Tasmanian wilds and discovering the land. Then spend the next day luxuriating in the spa. Dine with impeccable meals and elegant wines to complete your evening. Make friends with fellow travellers in the lounge over cocktails, or simply keep to yourselves as you feast your eyes upon the spectacular views.

All in all, this magnificent escape is just what you need to venture back out there. It’s a place that welcomes you in with the open arms of warm hospitality and luxurious touches that will beckon you to stay longer.

Other Tips and Tricks:

You can take a coach from the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service Visitor Centre into the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. These buses are cosy, quiet, and safe, running daily from 8:15am to 5:30pm at 10 to 15-minute intervals. This may be the best option since visitors are not permitted to drive to Dove Lake’s car park when the shuttle buses are in service.
