Room for Two: Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach Review

Sofitel Gold Coast - Exterior-Day

Reviewed by Rhonda Bannister

For a romantic weekend away or short break, the trendy beachside area of Broadbeach, a slick urban centre with a plethora of restaurants offering eats from around the world has always been our go-to spot. While there’s any number of accommodation options (and we have reviewed quite a few!), our new fave is Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach.

Sofitel Gold Coast - Pool area

A relaxed yet elegant hotel perfectly located next to the Oasis Shopping Centre and in walking distance to Kurrawa Beach, Star Casino and the shopping mecca of Pacific Fair, Sofitel Gold Coast is a beacon of sophisticated elegance for travellers seeking an indulgent five-star retreat. With 296 rooms and suites offering views of either the sparkling Pacific Ocean or the glorious green hinterland, couples are sure to find their perfect escape.

Best Room for Two:

Whether you opt for a prestige suite, luxury or superior ocean view room or classic river view room you can expect to be treated to the understated French elegance synonymous with the Sofitel brand worldwide.

Sofitel Gold Coast - Opera Suite Living

A romantic getaway deserves something special so we chose to stay in the exclusive Opera Suite which was superb! The spacious living room was a picture of style with contemporary furnishings in the lounge and dining area. The large wraparound balcony offered sweeping views of the ocean, making it the perfect spot to pop the cork on our bottle of French Champagne and indulge in the bubbles while gazing at the mesmerising view.

Our bedroom and ensuite bathroom were enormous and fun fact, the view from the loo was almost as good as from the balcony!  With the benefit of sleeping on a king-sized Sofitel MyBed – the most comfortable bed I have slept in – sleep came easily.

Food and Drink:

Sofitel Gold Coast - Chef YK

Although the hotel is surrounded by dozens of restaurants we chose to dine in the elegant confines of the hotels multi-award winning restaurant, Room81 where, we were reliably informed, we would enjoy an exquisite blend of culinary artistry and impeccable service. Starting with a delicious handcrafted cocktail in the cosy bar, we then proceeded to our table which had a view of the open kitchen where we watched the chefs cooking up a storm under the watchful eye of Head Chef YK.

Sofitel Gold Coast - Bar

Starting with a few share plates of Kingfish Sashimi, Seared Atlantic Scallops and Duck Terrine served with orange marmalade and freshly baked mini baguette, we then moved onto our mains of Snapper with lemon aspen, shaved squid and mussel emulsion and Rangers Valley Wagyu with black garlic puree and enoki mushrooms, all accompanied by a glass of vino. To cap off our incredible dining experience where each dish was a masterpiece, we finished with a selection of hand-crafted Petit Fours with a glass of Old Vine Muscat from Rutherglen.

Couples will Love:

Sofitel Gold Coast - breakfast

The lavish breakfast buffet at Bistro On3 on the pool terrace and the indulgence of  Afternoon Tea around the pool with a Le Goûter bento box packed with a delectable array of freshly baked pastry delights and a glass of finest rosé. Don’t worry the extra weight you have put on – the gym will be there when you get home!
