1. Hunter Valley

Where: The Hunter Valley region begins 120 kilometres north of Sydney, covering over 29,000 squared kilometres.

Why couples will love it: The Hunter Valley is a particularly well known romantic hotspot for food and wine lovers. However, the possibilities are endless in the Hunter Valley with something for every couple to enjoy. 2. Blue Mountains

Where: The breathtaking Blue Mountains are just 50 kilometres north-west of Sydney CBD.

Why couples will love it: The Blue Mountains are amongst Australia’s natural wonders but are like no other. There are a multitude of attractions to see in this mountainous region so be warned – one weekend might not be enough to see it all! Take in the tremendous Three Sisters landmark and Spring Open Gardens or journey on one of the walking tracks discovering creeks and caves along the way.

3. Byron Bay

Where: Byron Bay is 165 kilometres south of Brisbane, or, 772 kilometres north of Sydney.

Why couples will love it: Byron Bay is famous for its laid-back lifestyle and surf culture. Couples can enjoy its well renowned beaches, walk up to the lighthouse for gorgeous views and check out the many different colourful markets full of good food and homemade treasures. Stop off for a great meal at one of the many restaurants on Jonson Street, Bay Lane or Lawson Street and have a look at the intriguing local stores you pass on the way.

Murray River, Murray Shire, Australia

4. The Murray Shire

Where: The Murray Shire is on the border of New South Wales and Victoria, just under three hours scenic drive from Melbourne.

Why couples will love it: Couples will love the Murray Shire as it is home to some of Australia’s most beautiful natural wonders, including the Murray River which almost totally surrounds it. The magnificent ridge that is the Cadell Fault runs through the Murray Shire and it is also home to the 70,000 hectare Barmah-Millewa Forest, or river red gum forest, which is truly a sight to behold.

5. Nowra

Where: Nowra is approximately two and a half hours drive south of Sydney, in the South Coast region of New South Wales.

Why couples will love it: Nowra is located on the Shoalhaven River offering couples plenty of opportunity to go fishing, boating or river cruising. Nowra’s recreational culture is largely focused around river activities as well as other intrepid activities such as canoeing scuba diving, four wheel driving and cycling tours – making it the perfect getaway destination for adventurous couples. .
