The luxury hotel chain Wyndham has just announced expansion plans into Myanmar, with the new Wyndham Grand Yangon Royal Lake set to be the first in its portfolio in the country.

The US$157 million complex will include a residential building, serviced apartments, an office tower and a retail centre.

According to Wyndham Hotel Group South East Asia and Pacific Rim’s President and Managing Director Barry Robinson, Myanmar saw more than three million visitors in 2014, showing significant growth in business and leisure travellers.

Regions such as Myanmar and Cambodia which have suffered tumultuous political histories are now seeing a period of relative political stability, providing an untouched by the masses, authentic, cultural holiday experience.
