If you need an excuse to pop over to Sydney (or head out into the city if you’re locals), here it is. Returning May 25 to June 15, the renowned Vivid Sydney is set to impress this year, with an outstanding 2019 programme already creating excitement. Featuring everything from world-class bands and DJs to fascinating art installations, this year’s event promises to be a stand-out.
Of course, traditionalists will love the eye-catching light displays that Vivid Sydney is famous for – the ‘Under the Harbour’ display at Circular Quay and the ‘Austral Flora Ballet’ display (above) at the Sydney Opera House are sure to be highlights. Adding to the electric atmosphere, a fabulous lineup of musical acts include The Cure (no less), Rufus Du Sol, FKA Twigs, Maggie Rogers, Briggs, Sharon Van Etten and more.
Want more? There’ll also be a grand CBD Light Walk from Circular Quay, Darling Harbour and Barangaroo with five large-scale light projections. In Taronga Zoo there’ll be 300 illuminated large-scale animal sculptures, while a special ‘Ballerina’ display (above) along Circular Quay’s harbour edge will showcase a dancing ballerina – very sweet.
