Thinking of treating yourselves to a short break or romantic getaway? Sydney is apparently the place to go, with TripAdvisor naming the city its top destination for Australia and South Pacific for the third consecutive year!

TripAdvisor Asia Pacific Communications Director Janice Lee Fang says it’s easy to see why New South Wales’s capital took out the top spot. “With its scenic beaches, thriving cafe culture and iconic attractions, Sydney’s third consecutive win just goes to show how much of a favourite it is among our global community of travellers,” says Fang. “Our Travellers’ Choice awards for Destinations recognise the key cities and islands that offer an exceptional experience all year round.”

Taking second and third place on the Australia list was the Gold Coast and Melbourne, respectively. Overall, London impressed travellers, winning the title of world’s top destination for 2019. Award winners were determined using an algorithm based on the quantity and quality of reviews for things like attractions, restaurants and hotels.
