Already renowned for her creative high teas and dessert degustations, Anna Polyviou has raised the bar with her Gingerbread Carousel

Calling all sweet-tooth sweethearts! The ‘Punk Princess of Pastry’ Anna Polyviou has really outdone herself, unveiling a delicious Christmas spectacle at Sydney’s Shangri-La Hotel. The celebrated Executive Pastry Chef (and regular judge on Masterchef and Family Food Fight) and her elves have combined 750kg of gingerbread, 300kg of lollies and 100kg of royal icing to create a magical carousel, rotating bauble towers, candy canes, sparkling reindeer and a jolly Santa. Take in the whimsical scene and then really indulge with a Festive High Tea and treats in the hotel’s Lobby Lounge (until 05 January, 2020).

“I love Christmas and I love carnival carousels from my childhood,” said Polyviou. “So, I decided to combine both and create the most epic gingerbread carousel, Christmas Carnival and festive high tea that Sydney has ever seen.”

A daily pop-up store will also offer take-home treats including Polyviou's signature Mini Gingerbread Lolly Bag Houses, Gingerbread Ninjas and Mohawks, and Caramelised Christmas Logs. We are so there.
