Dive enthusiasts take note. A new sail/dive adventure from Burma Boating will plunge into fresh territory around the Mergui Archipelago, off southern Myanmar (Burma), for eight luxurious days of discovery. Previously off-limits to visitors, the region’s 800 islands, lagoons, atolls and coral reefs (home to the ethnic Moken ‘sea gypsy’ fisherman) are now open for limited sustainable tourism. Step aboard the classic stylings of the SY Dallinghoo, a 30-metre, gaff-rigged schooner crafted by renowned US yacht designer Dudley Dix, and cast off into the Andaman Sea.

“We wanted to offer something extraordinary,” said the head of Burma Boating, Michael Cole. “There are few, if any, undiscovered nirvanas like the Mergui Archipelago left on this planet. These cruises will provide comfort, exquisite dining, and stops at no less than five fantastic dive sites, all of which feature a kaleidoscope of coral and magnificent marine life.”

Trips run once a month from November 2019 through April 2020 and can accommodate up to eight qualified divers. Burma Boating also offers slightly shorter sailing and yachting trips around the archipelago starting October 19, 2019, through to mid-May, 2020, when monsoon season begins.
