With favourable exchange rates, destinations like Bali prove to be popular for destination weddings

We're big fans of destination weddings, here at H4C. And it seems most Australians are, with an independent survey revealing the popularity of saying "I do" overseas.

Asking 1,000 Australian adults their thoughts on the affordability of weddings, WorldFirst found that 58% of participants considered destination weddings to be a cost-effective option. According to their research, respondents thought the most savings would be made on catering and staff hire, followed by venue costs and honeymoon planning. That's good enough reason to escape to a romantic locale to exchange vows, if you ask us!

Leaders in international money transfers, WorldFirst says that favourable exchange rates are the main factor for keeping costs down. According to the finance group, Bali, South Africa and Mexico offer the best value based on foreign exchange rates, with the former proving to be a beloved option with Australians. "When planning for their big day, couples need to consider exchange rates when paying overseas suppliers or venue costs, and speak with a foreign exchange expert about the best time to make these transactions," says WorldFirst Head of Foreign Exchange Patrick Liddy.
