If enjoying world-class music, wine and produce in a charming country town sounds like your kind of weekend away, head to Victoria's Wangaratta in November. Bringing together an impressive lineup of musicians, the 29th Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues (November 2-4) is sure to inspire a romantic short break.
Featuring artists from across the globe, the festival will showcase performers like famed UK guitarist Matt Schofied (of The Matt Schofield Trio), revered Indigenous Australian jazz vocalist Wilma Reading (whose career highlights include touring with the Duke Ellington Orchestra) and the Netherlands' Yuri Honing Quartet. There'll also be a sensational market to check out, with the freshest gourmet and homegrown produce to pick up.
Festival Chair Mark Bolsius says this year's event will be one for both passionate music-lovers and couples seeking a fabulous weekend away. "With more than 300 musicians in over 80 concerts across eight concert locations, we promise there's something for everyone," says Bolsius. "We're confident that we have the right mix of music, artists, stages and programming to satisfy and delight not just serious jazz and blues aficionados, but also tourists and local music-lovers."
