If you've found yourself daydreaming about your next escape, there’s plenty of inspiration in a recent UN quality of life study which looks at the globe's happiest destinations. Surprise, surprise – Scandinavia and a handful of European countries have made it onto the top 10 list, and Canadians, Kiwis and Aussies are doing okay too, apparently.

It seems a variety of factors like flexible work hours, free healthcare, community spirit and national pastimes have a lot to do with locals being happy, but there's plenty for travellers to fall in love with too. We're talking unbelievable scenery, fascinating culture and friendly locals, to name but a few. Here's a look at the world's 10 happiest destinations and why you need to go there. Like, now.
