The spectacular Terracotta Army

The Terracotta Army

If adventure excites you, explore China's more rural regions and discover a land full of mystery and natural beauty.

A real bucket-list item, the Terracotta Army, also known as the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, is found near the picturesque city of Xi'an.

Discovered in the 1970s, diggers revealed a massive ancient treasure trove of life-size terracotta figures posed ready for battle. Ordered by Emperor Qin, the spectacular creations were created to guard him in the after-life. Talk about a grand funeral.

There are thousands of figures ranging from soldiers to horses plus chariots and weapons, and make for an amazing and mysterious sight.
