They say isolation can lead to strange things, but this new Flinders Island festival is seriously cray… in the best kind of way. Hitting the rugged Tasmanian island in April (14-15), the inaugural Food & Crayfish Festival will see a lineup of spectacular culinary talents come together to celebrate amazing produce.
Featuring everything from cooking classes to seafood picnics, a ‘pick and party’ vineyard gatherings to a ‘loaves and fishes’ lunch, F&CF will showcase the best flavours the island has to offer.
Set to be a real highlight, chefs Mark Labrooy (Three Blue Ducks), David Moyle (LongSong), James Viles (Biota), Matt Stone and Jo Barrett (Oakridge, respectively) will join sommelier Alice Chugg (Ettie’s) for an exclusive long lunch. Adding a touch of mystery, the event’s location will be revealed just 48 hours in advance. But on scenic Flinders Island, you’re pretty much guaranteed an impressive setting wherever you go.
