No, your calendar isn’t wrong – Christmas is still a way to go yet. Can’t wait for December to start indulging in your favourite yuletide goodies? As part of Sydney’s Bastille Festival, The Rocks will transform into a giant French-style Christmas village this July (11-14). Expect everything from gingerbread houses and twinkling fairy-lights to French cuisine and snow. Yes, snow!
Returning this year after its popular 2018 event, The Rocks Christmas In July Village will be one for the romantics out there. Perfect for picking up a souvenir or a special gift, artisans and providores will be selling their wares from old-world chalets (each imported from Europe to keep things authentic) – think hot mulled wine, chestnuts roasting on open fires and plenty of gingerbread.
Adding to the magical atmosphere, pine trees, artificial snow and carollers singing carols in French will make attendees feel as if they’ve stepped into one of Europe’s famous Christmas markets. Want more? While the free-entry mini ice-skating rink will only be open to children, a secret ginger beer bar will surely impress big kids.
