If you ask us, the way to make an amazing meal even better is to pair it with a gorgeous setting (a cheeky glass of something refreshing doesn’t hurt, too). Bringing together all of these elements, a new culinary festival is coming to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast in 2019. Get ready, gourmands!
A four-day foodie extravaganza, The Curated Plate Culianry Festival will celebrate the region’s best produce and showcase the talents of local chefs making it big in the Australian and international dining scene. Running August 8 to 11 across the Sunshine Coast region, the event will also highlight the Coast’s acclaimed producers, sustainable practices and artisan culture. Sure to be a hit with couples, a range of special experiences will also be on offer – from food trails to farm tours.
With the full festival programme still yet to be announced, event organisers have revealed that Tokyo’s Zaiyu Hasegawa from two-Michelin Star Den will lead an impressive lineup. The renowned chef will collaborate with Sunshine Coast chef Daniel Jarrett at the hatted restaurant The Tamarind – gourmands, watch this space.
Visit Sunshine Coast CEO Simon Latchford says the festival will help couples discover the region’s sensational culinary delights. “The Sunshine Coast is one of Australia’s premier regions for quality produce,” says Latchford. “It has more than 740 restaurants, 400 food tourism experiences, six dining precincts, 13 new craft breweries, some of the best farmers’ markets in the country and provides much of Queensland’s fish, seafood, fruit, vegetables and poultry exports.”
