Thinking of escaping to the outback but don’t fancy sacrificing the creature comforts? Opening July 1, a new glamping village in Kakadu is promising to mix the charms of the bush with all the luxurious mod-cons. We’re sold!
Set on its own exclusive site in the Cooinda Lodge & Camping Ground, Dreaming@HomeBillabong features 20 lavish permanent tents. Set under the canopy of shady trees, each Outback Retreat tent is set on its own elevated platform and touches like glass front doors, outdoor decks and beds with high-quality linens. Who said camping had to be rough?
Reflecting the Kakadu landscape, the canvas tents’ interiors also showcase Australian designed and hand-built elements (like locally produced Indigenous weaving and artwork). Upping the luxury even more, air-conditioning, fans, lighting, bar fridges, cabinetry and USB charging ports offer guests a very comfortable stay. There’s also a separate shared bathroom and amenities centre.
Perfect for those wanting to relax, Dreaming@HomeBillabong invites couples to enjoy onsite facilities like the Barra Bistro, Mimi’s Restaurant, a fish and chip truck, coffee cart and two swimming pools.
Of course, there’s also plenty for the adventure-lovers, with Kakadu’s magnificent attractions located nearby. To find out more about Dreaming@HomeBillabong or to book, visit the Kakadu Tourism website here.
