Eyeing off an Adelaide escape? There’s a new contender for your accommodation shortlist with Accor’s luxe Sofitel brand preparing to launch its first fabulous foray into South Australia.
Sofitel Adelaide (opening September 2021) will celebrate the City of Churches in its 251 rooms and suites — with a signature dose of French style to cap off the experience. Taking up residence in the heart of the CBD, the $150-million hotel is position-perfect for a chic city stay or a romantic tryst on your way to the wineries.

A sneak peek inside reveals a richly detailed world replete with plush furnishings, original artworks, and a dash of glamour and whimsy (think red wine-inspired chandeliers). The sumptuous design was led by Adelaide-raised Carl Almeida of global design practice P49 DEESIGN (see also Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi and Raffles Udaipur).
“Our vision for Sofitel Adelaide was to bring to life three quintessential Adelaide themes — city of churches, arts and culture, and wine,” said Carl. “And to weave these narratives into the hotel’s contemporary interiors, all of which are also a nod to the hotel’s cultural link to the city of Bordeaux in France.”
Sofitel’s passionate commitment to art de vivre (the art of living) sets the tone in the residential-style guest rooms and suites. Look out for French bath treats and freestanding tubs in the decadent open-concept bathrooms — all feature a stunning mosaic shower design inspired by the stained-glass windows of prominent Adelaide cathedrals.
Just steps from the River Torrens, Sofitel Adelaide will occupy the first 24 levels of a soaring glass-clad, mixed-use tower. The much-anticipated new destination will include a French restaurant, two bars, swimming pool, SoFIT health and fitness centre, and Sofitel Club Lounge, Club Milléseme.
