After Antarctica, This Is the Wilderness Experienced Travellers Are Turning To

Everyone talks about Antarctica. But just across the Drake Passage, the Chilean Fjords of Patagonia stretch through a landscape of hanging glaciers, sheer cliffs and narrow waterways that comparatively few travellers ever reach — and Scenic Eclipse is returning there in 2027 with a limited series of voyages.

The appeal is partly the destination and partly how you experience it. Scenic Eclipse carries two helicopters and a submersible alongside its Zodiac fleet, meaning guests can approach the fjords from almost every angle: flying above glaciers, descending beneath the surface, slipping into hidden coves or kayaking beneath Patagonian peaks. An expert Discovery Team of up to 20 specialists provides context throughout. Wildlife encounters are a constant: humpback and blue whales, Magellanic and Humboldt penguins, sea lions and Andean condors, often with barely another vessel in sight.

Beyond the glaciers, the Chilean Fjords hold their own surprises. The remote community of Puerto Edén, the dramatic English Narrows and the island of Chiloé — with its brightly painted stilt houses and UNESCO World Heritage-listed wooden churches — give the region a cultural dimension that Antarctica cannot match.

On board, Scenic Eclipse offers all-suite accommodation with butler service, up to ten dining venues, eight bars and lounges, more than 100 whiskies and a 550sqm spa. Helicopter and submersible experiences are at additional cost.

Early booking offers close as soon as allocated inventory sells.
