Kuala Lumpur is well established as a hot spot for Australians – it’s close, it’s safe, it’s fun and there’s heaps to see and do – and there are some wonderful hotels in which to fall back and regroup after a hard day being a tourist.
The Westin is a haven of peace in the midst of the clatter of the city … walk in the door and your options open up before you – fancy a drink? Some of the coolest bars in KL are at the Westin. Qba is actually so much more than a bar … the decoration includes a pair of angels (with their eyes closed of course!) and evokes the atmosphere of old Havana in the Cigar Bar, while the Latin Grill is famous for its steak. Outside in the Courtyard Bar the latin theme continues with live entertainment.
Situated in the heart of the shopping district, and just down the road from the awesome Pavilion Mall, The Westin is within easy walking distance of most of the fabulous shopping for which Kuala Lumpur is so justly famous. Upmarket is the word here – the central district is a mecca for designer … everything; but if you are looking for cheap and cheerful, the Chinatown market in Petaling Street where to go for ‘genuine imitations’ of the big brands. If local colour is your thing Sungai Wang is for you. This is where the local people shop (plus lots of tourists) and it’s got everything. Good quality dvds, shoes, bags, a floor devoted to beauty salons, a department store – but be warned – it’s noisy!
The Rooms
Ultra comfortable! The Heavenly Bed® certainly is …. heavenly, and the views out of the window wall are spectacular. All the little comforts are there, high speed internet connection, a comfortable chaise longue, a divine bathroom with everything just where you need it. The service is exemplary.
Couples will Love
The dining and entertainment – you must check out Qba – a space housing a fabulous restaurant (The Latin Grill) a wine bar and cigar lounge.
Taste Temptations
Where to start? Eest allows you to travel Asia with culinary offerings from five neighbouring nations all prepared with the freshest of ingredients and a splash of originality. The kitchen is open, and watching the chefs is entertainment on a grand scale.
Venturing Out
For sheer unadulterated foolish fun why not visit Cosmos’ World Theme Park at Berjaya Times Square. Located at the top of one of the city’s leading retail outlets, the thrill of the rides here is magnified by the fact that as you hang upside down you are looking down on the city! Petronas Twin Towers are open to tourists and give a bird’s eye view but the best fun is just walking around the city – there is lots to see and do.
