Room for Two: Hotel Escondido

In Room For Two by The H4C Team

Already a favourite with global surfers, the sleepy Mexican fishing village of Puerto Escondido (meaning ‘Hidden Port’) now hosts a secluded beach hut village. At Hotel Escondido, a member of Design Hotels, hoteliers Carlos Couturier and Moisés Micha (Grupo Habita) have collaborated with architect Federico Rivera Río to create ‘a modern-take on traditional palapa beach huts’. Two hundred metres of coastline have been transformed into a haven of laid-back luxury with a commitment to honour local tradition and design. The 16 beachfront bungalows are minimalist and comfortable, featuring locally sourced palapa rooftops and tropical wood floorboards, as well as private pools. Surfing, boating and kayaking are on offer just steps from the bungalows (lessons available) as well as a cheerful bar and underground nightclub.

Couples will love: kicking back together in an idyllic yet low-key setting. Drift away in a hammock by your private pool or take in the ocean break at sunset. It’s all good.
