Resort Report: Luxury in the Cook Islands

In Room For Two by The H4C Team

The Cook Islands are truly paradise on earth – a place everyone should experience at least once in their lives. Laid-back and casual with a friendly atmosphere, Rarotonga, the main island of the Cooks, will be where you spend most days. Because you can circumnavigate the island by car in just 45 minutes, it really doesn’t matter in which area you choose to base yourself. Here’s a review of two of our favourite places to stay but there are many more – go and discover them.

Five stars all the way. That’s what you get when you stay at this beautiful waterfront property where your every wish is truly answered. Beautifully designed and furnished, these villas are exquisite in every way. Swim in your private waterfall pool, soak in the hot tub, head out into the lagoon on your personal kayak, relax on your beachside deck and enjoy the seclusion and absolute privacy of your luxury villa… it’s all here and it’s fantastic.

Accommodation is perfect for a couple or for a group of four. You can open the villa up to two very separate king-sized bedrooms with private ensuites. This is like staying in a luxurious home with an amazing pool with waterfall, barbecue area and private hot tub plus private beach area and entertaining decks. Add to this a multi-award winning spa just down the road and you have everything you need for a perfect escape – enjoy!

A beach arrival at Royale Takitumu

Royale Takitumu

“A slice of paradise” and a ‘home away from home” are the comments you’ll read on TripAdvisor about this place. Now who doesn’t want to stay at a luxury resort where you feel right at home! We happen to agree with all the reports from the lucky people who have stayed here – it really is special, right on the lagoon in a secluded garden area where you feel a world away from the rest of the crazy planet.

Couples, families and groups of friends will find Royale Takitumu a haven of tranquillity with a down to earth philosophy. The villas are comfortable without being OTT luxurious and every need is atered for. Kayaks line the pearly white sands so grab one and get out into the gorgeous Titikaveka lagoon for a paddle. Take a dip in the pool or wander around the lush tropical gardens. Sit on your patio and enjoy a beer or G&T as the sun sets on another perfect day.

Could you stay a month? Many couples do and some stay longer… I wish I could.
