Places to Stay

Krabi & Koh Lanta

If you’re looking for a Thailand holiday or honeymoon destination that’s a little more off the beaten track than the famed islands of Phuket and Samui, Krabi Province could be your dream escape.

Located in southern Thailand, on the Andaman Coast, Krabi is around 240 kilometres from Phuket or a four to five-hour drive. You can also fly from several Thai cities into Krabi’s small but conveniently located airport. Once there, travellers will discover a bustling little town, and easy access to a world of dreamy white-sand beaches made for two.

Find beautiful accommodation in Thailand with our directory of handpicked accommodation.

Krabi’s signature landscape is punctuated by astonishing limestone karsts rising hundreds of feet from the Andaman Sea, and this makes it a hugely popular destination for adventure seekers, especially rock climbers. You can also enjoy kayaking, diving, snorkelling and even jungle trekking.

Jump in an iconic longtail boat with an excellent local guide and discover miles of stunning coastline and more than 150 offshore islands. On mainland Krabi, you’ll enjoy a lush and mountainous interior bursting with waterfalls, caves, and hot springs.

Less than 90 minutes by boat from Krabi is the pristine island of Koh Lanta. Once a hotspot for backpackers looking for paradise, today Koh Lanta offers a few luxury hotels perfect for honeymooners or couples looking for a romantic holiday location in Thailand.

You can still enjoy uncrowded and unspoiled beaches and crystalline waters, but the few modern conveniences available today round out Koh Lanta. One for the wish list!

Need to Know:
DO something entirely different and visit the Krabi Hot Springs, around 70 Kms from Krabi town, and known for their therapeutic and soothing effects.
DON’T forget to visit Railay, a small peninsula accessible only by longtail boat due to the high limestone cliffs which are the main attraction for rock climbers. Railay is one of the top five destinations in the world for outdoor sports – including diving and sea kayaking – so if you have a streak adventure in you, you’ll not want to miss this high-adrenaline destination.
COUPLES WILL LOVE venturing a little further from Krabi to Koh Lanta, a Thai island paradise of old, where the overcrowding sometimes experienced on the more famous islands is yet to become an issue. If you are looking for peace, beauty and the simple pleasures of island life, the island destination (several smaller islands make up the region) of Koh Lanta serves you the purpose.
