This is our kind of virtual travel: five weeks devouring food events and sipping wine experiences online at the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival. Rather than cancel their annual celebration of HK’s mouth-watering food/wine scene, organisers have changed up the four-day festival into a series of free “online + offline” events (11 November to 15 December).
The spotlight will be on chefs, food critics, sommeliers and wine makers, and cuisine that runs the gamut from Michelin-starred dishes to iconic street food. Online experiences include gourmet at-home menus, an online wine cellar, and live-stream master classes, while lucky “offline” diners can enjoy specials deals and gastronomic events around the city.
Cocktail lovers? Don’t miss a virtual tequila cocktail class with award-winning mixologist Jay Khan, co-founder of Mexican bar COA. Home chefs? Look out for celebrated Hong Kong-based luminaries such as Australian Shane Osborn (Arcane and Cornerstone) and Vicky Cheng of VEA Restaurant & Lounge.
We’ll be tuning in for “Lady’s Talk” — a showcase of five female influencers currently shaking up Hong Kong’s food and beverage scene — as well as picking up some New Wave Bordeaux recommendations from internationally acclaimed critic James Suckling and Master of Wine Debra Meiburg.
Couples will love: Immersing in Hong Kong’s incredible wining and dining scene while honing your skills at home. Add a (real) glass of wine and date night is sorted.
