Away from the bustling city streets, many locales in Hong Kong have that blend of natural surroundings and a quiet lifestyle that lend themselves to intimate moments. Mui Wo village on Lantau Island boasts an overwhelming sense of peace, atmosphere and relaxation, and was once Lantau island’s largest settlement before the rise of Tung Chung town.
You can’t go to Mui Wo and not visit Silver Mine Bay beach. A few minutes’ walk from the Mui Wo ferry pier, the beach is not what many consider when thinking of Hong Kong, with beautiful sand stretching for miles. Come early evening and the wild buffalo that roam the island head down to the beach – quite a sight when you consider how (not so) far away Central Hong Kong is! You and your partner will love going for long walks or bike rides (when you get off the ferry, head to the shops over the road and ask where the local bike hire place is – bicycles seem to be the preferred mode of transport here!) and see a different side of Hong Kong.
