Have you met the Home of the Arts (HOTA) yet? This buzzy cultural precinct is colourful, creative, and fun (a bit like the GC really), with the hotly anticipated $60 million HOTA Gallery completing the picture on 08 May 2021. Gold Coast weekend, we’re coming for you!

Framed by the iconic Surfers Paradise skyline, the palm-lined precinct is already a favourite with music lovers, theatre goers, and cinema buffs (there’s also a lovely lake). But HOTA Gallery promises to seriously elevate the mood. Spanning six levels, it’s the largest Australian art gallery outside a capital city, with a stellar collection, and a fitting inaugural exhibition in Solid Gold: Artists from Paradise (08 May-20 June 2021). The show will feature new works indoors and out, celebrating the diverse array of Gold Coast goodness.

And be sure to block in a Gold Coast summer holiday when a cool world-exclusive lands in November. Contemporary Masters from New York: Art from the Mugrabi Collection (13 November 2021-27 February 2022) will bring works from NY big guns (we’re talking Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Jeff Koons to name a few) to the Goldie.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, it’s pronounced “hotter”. Naturally.

Where: HOTA precinct, 135 Bundall Rd, Surfers Paradise
Couples will love: A big dollop of culture with their sun, sea, and surf.
