Meditation on the Mekong: Belmond Launches Exciting New Experience

In Travel News by The H4C Team

Belmond have just launched a unique experience for visitors to the cultural capital of Laos, Luang Prabang, with ‘Meditation on the Mekong’.

The experience involves immersing guests in an integral cornerstone of Buddhism while taking a one of a kind tour on the Mekong River on Belmond La Résidence Phou Vao’s private boat, stopping to meditate at a number of small temples along the way.

Guests are lead on the tour by former Buddhist Monk Ajanh Souk who will give those on the tour a background into the life of a monk, as well as a certified instructor who will lead meditation sessions. The instructor will also demonstrate to guests ‘walking meditation’ which is believed to build concentration, invigorate, relax and boost strength and stamina and deepen guests’ experience of the world by explaining Buddhism from a Western perspective.

There will also be plenty of opportunity to discover incredible cultural sites such as the Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of Buddha statues, as well as the Muang Kham Monastery and the temples of Kok Pha and Hatshiew. Couples can enjoy a picnic on board the boat and receive meditation and Buddhism guides to further continue their study of these ancient philosophies.

PRICE: Meditation on the Mekong is prices from AUD$770 for two people and AUD$130 for each additional person (maximum four people).
