Of course you have to dive when you visit the Maldives – it’s in the name! Yes, we went there. Home to 26 low atolls, this tropical paradise is a hotspot for colourful marine life and stunning coral.
Be sure to visit Fotteyo Kandu in the Vaavu Atoll for caves, yellow soft coral and incredible wildlife or check out Broken Rock in the South Ari Atoll for a fascinating canyon filled with large fan coral. Okobe Thila in the North Male Atoll is also worth a visit, featuring three main pinnacle sections ranging from 10 metres to 50 metres in length. Wherever you choose to dive, you’re bound to see manta and eagle rays, tuna, sharks, turtles and an array of techni-coloured fish.
