For the 27th year in a row, couples travelling in the gorgeous city of Macau can witness the Macau Tower bursting into a kaleidoscope of colours for the Macau International Fireworks Display Contest, sure to delight admirers who flock from around the globe for the exciting event.

Australia has seen success five times in this competitive contest, finishing on the podium five times with first place in 1998, and third in 2003, 2006, 2012 and 2014.

This year’s challenge will begin during the Mid-Autumn Festival on the Saturdays of September 5, 12 and 19, as well as Sunday, September 27 and October 1.

Representing Australia is Howard & Sons Pyrotechnics (Displays), pitted against teams from China, Portugal, Malaysia, Finland, Taiwan, Korea, Italy, France and Austria. The Australian team will meet last year’s champions, China, on the final day – one of much fanfare as it will be China’s National Day.
