Macao has begun the clean-up following Typhoon Hato, which has devastated the city and left widespread damage. The most severe storm to hit Macao in more than five decades, the typhoon has caused massive flooding in low-lying areas, water supply stoppages and telecommunication breakdowns.
The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has approached local hotel properties for updates on their statuses, while travellers are advised to also contact their respective hotels. The MGTO operates its tourist information counters at the Ritz Building, Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, Border Gate, Macau International Airport and Taipa Ferry Terminal and plans to attend to visitors as usual.
