Celebrity Cruises has revealed details of the extensive AUD$11.25 million revitalisation planned for one of Australia’s favourite cruise ships, Celebrity Solstice.
The luxury makeover includes “A Taste of Film” cinema experience under the stars, new Lawn Club cabanas, an authentic Japanese sushi restaurant and an all-new digital photo gallery.
Australians will be the first to experience Celebrity Solstice’s myriad of exciting new features. After making her debut as the first international cruise ship to return to Sydney for the summer season on 8 October, the 2,850-guest ship will cruise to Singapore where she will enter dry-dock on 22 October. Celebrity Solstice will then sail into her Sydney home-port on 14 November.
The revitalisation will see various enhancements and additions implemented throughout the ship, including:
- A Taste of Film – Celebrity Solstice will be the first of the Solstice Class ships to offer this gastronomic and film adventure, which pairs big-screen movies that evoke a specific cultural, culinary or destination experience, with cuisine that brings the scenes on the screen to life through guests’ taste buds. Additionally, a large movie screen will be added to The Lawn Club where the unique culinary experience will be hosted.
- Lawn Club Cabanas – Brand new alcove-style cabanas will border the real grass lawn for additional seating and relaxation space. Guests will be able to adjust the cabanas to their preferred view throughout the day, whether it be out to sea or towards the outdoor movie screen.
- Sushi on Five – Celebrity’s hotly anticipated newest dining experience will take the place of Bistro on Five and feature an expertly crafted à la carte menu, curated by sushi chef Yoshikazu “Yoshi” Okada. Sushi on Five will offer hand-rolled sushi, fresh tableside grated wasabi, house-made soy sauce, Asian-inspired cocktails, Japanese beers and premium sakes, plus an array of mouth-watering starters and entrees.
- Photo Gallery – Celebrity Solstice’s Photo Gallery will also receive a full modern luxury makeover, removing the traditional panel display of printed photos and introducing 25 state-of-the-art touch screen kiosks, where guests will be able to view their professional photos taken throughout their cruise and purchase a variety of photo formats. This new service allows guests to download their purchased photos direct to their mobile device at any time during their cruise, and instantly share their cruise memories with friends and family back home via social networking, email or messaging.
In addition, an expansive Art Gallery will emerge from the current Photo Gallery, featuring a dedicated auction location with contemporary art lining the freshly renovated space.
Suites onboard will also see various modern luxury enhancements, including lavish new patio furniture being added to suite balconies.
The newly revitalised Celebrity Solstice will arrive back in Sydney on 14 November, following a repositioning cruise from Singapore. She’ll then embark on a series of picturesque itineraries with calls to the green natural oasis of New Zealand, the exotic escape of Indonesia, and to sought-after destinations across Australia.
Fares start at AU$1,499 for a seven-night South Pacific Getaway cruise, departing from Sydney on 13 April 2017. The cruise will call at the pristine island of Lifou in the Loyalty Islands and vibrant Noumea in New Caledonia, before returning to Sydney. Plus for guests who book before 23 September 2016, Celebrity Cruises will provide bonus USD$300 onboard credit per stateroom.
