With a possible Australia/New Zealand travel bubble on the horizon, we’ve been paying close attention to the NZ hotel scene. One to watch? The newly imagined Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour (reopening 19 October) where fresh French treats await after a lavish makeover.
Overlooking glistening Waitemata Harbour in the upscale Viaduct precinct, the hotel was already beacon of European luxe with all rooms offering a private balcony, marble bathroom with deep soaking bathtub, and Balmain or Hermes amenities.
New indulgences amplify the unmistakable French flair, including opulent Louis XVI inspired furnishings and the introduction of Club Millésime. Available for selected room and suites, this lounge retreat promises a range of privileges including exclusive breakfasts, afternoon tea, Sofitel’s signature Apéro Chic (a convivial evening decadence of hor d’oeuvres, wines and cocktails) and late checkout.
Naturally, the good times extend to wining and dining. We’re talking coffee and crepes at sidewalk café French Press, bubbles at Champagne bar Sabrage, and fine dining at the waterside Restaurant La Maree which pairs superb NZ seafood and produce with traditional French culinary techniques.
“Like the ateliers of Paris, every space is a treasure house of artisanship. We’re proud to welcome locals and visitors to Auckland to journey through the hotel to experience its beautiful, elegant and stylish new-look,” says Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour, General Manager Stephen Gould.
And coming soon? The new-look Sofitel Spa which will feature French skincare line Biologique Recherche.
Ooh, là, là.
