Kenya continues to grow as a popular African destination, with Africa travel specialists, Bench, experiencing a boost in Kenya enquiries this year.
Proving it is a popular destination to experience the African wildlife and culture, sales to Kenya have increased 74% for the period January to September 2016 versus the same period last year.
Bench said the most popular Kenya itinerary is Kenya Highlights as it gives customers the chance to see a nice cross section of Kenya’s national parks in a relatively short period of time. For 8 days the Kenya Highlights tour starts from $3,295 per person.
Another popular itinerary, to see The Great Wildebeest Migration is the Migration Safari, starting from $3,350 per person.
Bench General Manager, Martin Edwards, said “Kenya has always been a premier destination for both beach and bush; the country offers rich culture, dramatic landscapes, incredible wildlife and welcoming, friendly people. It is fantastic to see travel confidence on the up! Kenya has always been the home of the authentic safari and we very much look forward to the country reaching its full potential.”
Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) reported a positive 18.9 percent growth in Australian visitor’s year on year for the first six months of 2016.
Improved destination awareness and confidence, increased air capacity with Qatar Airways, continued support and marketing efforts from trade partners and a variety of new tourism initiatives including reduced park fees, the removal of VAT charges on national park entry fees, visa waivers for children under 16 years and the introduction of an online visa system have all helped to boost the visitor numbers to the African nation.
