The iconic Surfers Paradise Marriott is being treated to a luxe $35 million makeover and rebrand, just in time for Christmas! JW Marriott will debut its first foray into Australia with the JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa, slated to open December 2020.
The fresh face of this beloved destination will offer an indulgent tropical retreat close to the Gold Coast’s beautiful beaches. Award-winning Australian design studio, DBI, the property’s original architects and interior designers, were engaged to reimagine the resort in line with JW Marriott’s high standards of modern luxury.
The 223 new-look guest rooms and suites, with ocean or hinterland views, will be defined by a sense of coastal sophistication, utilising locally sourced stone and natural timbers. Public spaces will be refreshed while still retaining their original emblematic features. And don’t worry, the resort’s awesome saltwater lagoon, featuring over 300 tropical fish, will remain a centrepiece of the JW Marriott.
Food and beverage venues promise an array of indulgence, encompassing two feature restaurants, a lobby lounge and bar, pool bar, a brand new Japanese whisky bar with outdoor terrace, and a signature JW Marketplace. Offerings include a revamped Citrique Restaurant, an expanded Misono teppayaki (to incorporate an intimate Izakaya, tearoom and sushi bar) and a transformed Chapter & Verse into an indoor-outdoor lounge and bar experience, connecting with the lagoons and swimming areas.
If you’re planning a wedding for 2021, look out for the resort’s light-filled Junior Ballroom which will offer 276 squares metres of flexible space with open views over the pool.
