Have you tried luxury dome glamping yet?

There’s something about staying in a bubble that appeals to our romantic nature. And even better if that dreamy dome comes with epic views and a side of stargazing.

The curve appeal of luxury dome glamping and ‘bubble tent’ mini breaks has been gaining traction in Australia, perfectly aligned with both slow travel goals and off-grid yearnings. Think eco-friendly ‘geodesic domes’ and inflatable bubble tents with outdoor bathtubs, luxe linens, and just enough creature comforts for a back-to-nature escape.

For fun-sized couple’s accommodation, it doesn’t get much better.

So, where to try?

Tasmania

Head to the heart of Tamar Valley wine country to Domescapes Tasmania at Swinging Gate Vineyard (north of Launceston). Their Insta-ready bespoke domes feature ensuites, star-gazing sky windows, heating, and vineyard views plus a complimentary cellar door wine tasting and bottle of vino with your stay. Opt for the Amarone or Sauvignon for that all-important outdoor tub.

New South Wales

A secret bush location in northwest NSW is where you’ll find Faraway Domes. They’re waaay off the beaten track, but that’s all part of the charm. Located on an east-facing ridgeline (hello sunrise), this secluded escape ticks all the boxes: cool self-contained dome, outdoor bathtub, plunge pool, plush furnishings, and 360˚ views. Oh, and in-dome massage on request. You’ll have plenty of space to unwind — in your roomy dome and the surrounding 9000 acres of bushland and rolling hills. Glorious.

If you want to go the full bubbly, try off-grid glamping at Bubbletent Australia in the Capertee Valley (between Lithgow and Mudgee). The transparent tents leave little between you and incredible panoramas of the world’s second-largest canyon, and the sea of stars above. And don’t worry, you’ll have your own telescope to zoom in on all the cosmic loveliness. Each bubble (choose from Leo, Cancer, or Virgo) enjoys a private position on the 1000+ acre farm and stays fully inflated thanks to an eco-turbine powered by batteries and solar. Rotate between the glow of the firepit and the steamy depths of your Swedish wood-fired hot tub to round out this romantic couple’s experience.

Western Australia

Heading to WA wine country? Seek out the decadent domes at Mile End Glamping, a 15-minute drive from Margaret River and Busselton. Set on a 144-acre estate with a river flowing through it, these spacious domes are seriously well kitted-out. We’re talking bathroom, kitchen, comfy king bed, and an adjacent timber deck with private outdoor bath and barbeque. And did we mention the world-class wineries just minutes away?
