Going on a New York romantic getaway or honeymoon with your sweetheart? Our guide to one of New York City's most fashionable and busy areas, Midtown, will help make your romantic adventure a breeze.

Times Square, Hell's Kitchen, Carnegie Hall, Empire State Building, City Library, Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Centre, St Patricks Cathedral, and the block-long Macy's department store all live in this area, plus street after street of fashion shops and fashionable boutiques. This is the centre of the city with the tallest skyscrapers and busiest streets, where the noise of people, sirens and horns never stops. Running north to south from approximately 59th to 31st Street, this area is what most visitors define as the 'Big Apple'.

Best suits the couple...

... who love the beating pulse of a party city on steroids; want to wander from bar to bar soaking up the incredible atmosphere of the city that never sleeps; can't get enough of the extravagant, flashing neon lights and the clashing cacophony of Times Square; want to immerse themselves in the theatre district – the bright lights and smell of greasepaint on and off Broadway at night and by day want to ‘shop til they drop’.

Don't miss...

... lunch or dinner at Novotel Times Square at 226 W52nd Street, because this hotel has THE best view of the mayhem playing out below on the world's busiest pedestrian intersection. There's so many to choose from so don't miss seeing a play or musical on or off Broadway. Visit the newly renovated and simply glorious Grand Central Terminal on E42nd Street, the biggest railway terminal in the world and an absolute eye-popper with its Beaux-Arts architecture and sweeping staircases, twinkling ceiling, polished marble and glittering chandeliers – it's simply amazing. For a treat, pop into the famous Grand Central Oyster Bar for lunch and just watch the crowds swirl around. Enjoy a vodka martini (shaken, not stirred) at the Russian Tea Room at 150 W57th Street, just to take a look inside this Manhattan icon founded by members of the Russian Imperial Ballet 80 years ago. Pop up to the rooftop Ava bar at the Dream Hotel, 210 W55th Street for the best panoramic views and a cocktail and then enjoy the humour at famous Carolines Comedy Club at 1626 Broadway where Jerry Seinfeld started his career.
