In a stellar line-up, Cabarita Beach has been named Australia’s best beach for 2020 by Tourism Australia’s beach expert, Brad Farmer.
Located in the scenic Tweed region of far northern NSW, Cabarita topped Farmer’s list of 20 standout sandy playgrounds – edging out Currumbin Beach QLD and Minnamurra Beach NSW. Awarded for its “quintessential Aussie features, quiet coastal estuaries, picnic-perfect grassy knolls and long expanses of sandy shores,” this summertime idyll has our vote too!
Low-key and lovely ‘Caba’ first rolled onto our holiday radar when super-stylish beach retreat Halycon House opened its doors in 2015. But the region’s superb waves have long held appeal (Surfing Australia’s High Performance Centre is prepping our local stars for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics here).
“As a base for visitors, Cabarita has it all,” says Tweed Tourism Company General Manager Bradley Nardi. “From great accommodation choices, awarded dining, day spas, beach-view bars and casual cafes, all just a short step from the sand. There’s also stunning viewpoints such as Norries Headland, quiet family beaches and famous surf breaks.”
