A peaceful world all its own, Nusa Dua is a private enclave separated from the rest of Bali by a walled perimeter. Security checkpoints may seem strange at first, but they do impart a sense of calm and safety and enhance the resort-like atmosphere once inside.
Nusa Dua is home to a host of luxury hotels, a popular golf course and heavenly beaches. A string of five-star hotels is accessible from an interconnecting oceanfront boardwalk, perfect for an afternoon stroll or a cruise on your hotel bike. The beaches are quiet with barely any hawkers, just the sound of couples and families taking in the tranquility.
At the tip of the peninsula – walking distance from the hotels – is a natural blowhole that shoots out water into the air. But that’s about all the action you’ll see. For the most part, Nusa Dua is for the holidaymakers who want to relax at their luxury beachfront suite, have a drink at the swim-up pool bar and dine at each of the hotels along the boardwalk. If you need a little adrenaline to spice up your day, there is an array of watersports to suit your fancy – from jet skiing and banana boating to parasailing and scuba diving. But when all is said and done, you’ll return to your beach chair, sip on an umbrella-ed cocktail, look at your significant other and think “this is the life”.
