Dive into the beautiful Noosa Biosphere

Who knew? Even as frequent visitors to Noosa, we weren’t familiar with its status as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve! But a new campaign, Enter the Biosphere, is highlighting the impressive eco credentials of this beloved holiday enclave on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

So, what is a biosphere, exactly? It’s a prestigious recognition of the balance between natural environment and sustainable human development. In Noosa’s case, it means people are managing to live in harmony with a natural wonderland of beaches, waterways, nature ecosystems, and lush national park. Nice one!

Officially launching tomorrow, Enter the Biosphere will share the concept and how couples, families and eco-travellers alike can enjoy its many delights. Look out for accommodation and tour deals (hello, romantic weekend away) and a series of biosphere experience trails.

“Our nature experiences such as kayaking through the Noosa Everglades, surfing one of Noosa’s famous surfing breaks, exploring the Noosa North Shore and walking through the Noosa National Park are major drawcards for attracting visitors to our region and the campaign will highlight this,” says Tourism Noosa CEO Melanie Anderson.

“Complementing this are thriving local villages with boutique shopping, award-winning restaurants, breweries and distilleries, accommodation to suit all tastes and plenty of adventure options just waiting to be explored!”

The Noosa UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is one of only two in Queensland and the only one in the world which joins another biosphere (the Great Sandy Biosphere Reserve).
