You might think CSI is a TV series, but travel fans will know that it actually stands for the “Club Sandwich Index”.
Released annually by Hotels.com, it ranks cities according to the average price you can expect to pay for a club sandwich in hotels. In order to provide a more in-depth picture, this year’s CSI featured three extra items: a cup of coffee, glass of house red wine and a burger meal (burger, fries, soda).
And the results?
Twenty-eight cities were surveyed and, basically, BYO sandwiches to Geneva. It’s the most expensive city in the world for hotel dining, costing an average of AUD $112.45* for all four menu options, and an astonishing $40 just for the club sandwich.
Number two on the list was Paris, followed by Hong Kong, Oslo, London, Seoul, Stockholm, Tokyo, Singapore and New York City. Seoul was also home to the most expensive cup of coffee ($12.60).
Cheapest on the list were Bogota ($30.08 for all four items), Mexico City ($41.70), Rio de Janeiro (US$44.35), Madrid ($50.25) and Bangkok ($51.30).
