Coronet Ridge Resort Brings Refined Alpine Living to Queenstown

There are few places where scenery does as much of the work as it does in Queenstown. Coronet Ridge Resort builds on that advantage with a newly opened 41-room alpine retreat overlooking the Shotover River, set within the quieter enclave of Arthur’s Point following a multi-million-dollar redevelopment.

The appeal lies in its positioning. Wrapped in the drama of the Southern Alps, the resort feels deliberately removed, yet sits less than ten minutes’ drive from central Queenstown and the slopes of Coronet Peak. It is a location that offers genuine calm without sacrificing access, a balance that has become increasingly difficult to strike in the region.

Architecture and interiors are central to the experience. Designed by G2 Studio, with interiors developed in collaboration with Furnz Group, the resort favours a restrained alpine palette. Warm timber, layered textures and locally commissioned artwork create spaces that feel grounded rather than showy.

Every room and suite opens to a private balcony or patio, framing river or mountain views, with accommodation ranging from generous 37-square-metre Alpine and Shotover River View Rooms to expansive Shotover Suites and the two-bedroom Coronet Suite.

Dining is centred on Elevation Bar & Restaurant, where floor-to-ceiling views take in the Wakatipu Basin and The Remarkables. The menu, overseen by Executive Chef Dominic Dsouza, draws on seasonal Central Otago produce and moves easily from refined breakfasts and relaxed brunches to evening dining and après-ski fare. In winter, the mood shifts inward to the Library Bar, where a fireplace, single-malt whiskies and a strong regional wine list encourage long evenings close to home.

Wellness is treated as more than a supporting act. A Roman-inspired day spa anchors the leisure offering, complemented by outdoor hot tubs, an indoor heated pool, sauna and steam room. Signature treatments include a three-hour head-to-toe ritual combining exfoliation, a body wrap, massage and facial using New Zealand-made botanical skincare. For guests who prefer to stay active, the resort also offers a fully equipped fitness centre, squash courts and a private cinema for quieter downtime.

Coronet Ridge Resort is also positioning itself as a discreet option for small gatherings and corporate retreats, with a dedicated conference space for up to 30 guests, supported by breakout areas, dining venues and spa facilities that allow meetings to unfold at a more measured pace.

Opening rates currently start from NZD $650 per night, including breakfast, with celebratory packages available for the launch period. For reservations and further information, visit coronetridge.co.nz
