If your idea of the perfect romantic holiday involves cosplay rather than swimmers and flip-flops, San Diego Comic-Con is the event for you.

Running from 8 to 12 July, it’s the biggest event in pop culture, with more than 100,000 fans – plus more online – set to experience maximum geek bliss thanks to the latest offerings from the world’s biggest movie studios, TV channels, toy makers and, of course, comic book companies.

One of the most anticipated events on the programme? Director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy providing a “special look” at Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Oh, and usually there’s a stage full of cast members from little TV shows like, um, Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead.
