Auckland to welcome new fashion-inspired hotel

New Zealand is still hot on the travel radar in 2018, with Auckland on the North Island attracting culture-vultures and luxury-lovers alike. Sure to impress both, the soon-to-be-opened SO/ Auckland will provide a unique and sumptuous place for travellers to stay in the city. Teaming up with renowned New Zealand fashion brand WORLD for the design, SO/ Auckland promises to stand out from the crowd.

Occupying the former Reserve Bank in Auckland’s centre, the hotel will feature touches of the contemporary fashion icon throughout – from signature design prints and artwork to wallpaper designs and staff attire. SO/ Auckland General Manager Stephen Gould says the partnership will give the hotel a modern and youthful character. “We needed a designer with an approach as bold and enterprising as the SO/ brand; energetic, social, bursting with individual character but also inherently a reflection of Auckland,” says Gould. “WORLD is a playful mix of sophistication and dynamic style, and therefore was an obvious choice.”

Expect a contemporary mix of glamorous and relaxed styles

Further embracing the modern approach, the hotel will also keep things relaxed with nametag-less staff, self-serve complimentary minibars and a breezy rooftop bar. Or, for something a little more refined, guests can enjoy a meal at the French-inspired Harbour Society restaurant, led by Chef Marc de Passorio (former owner of the Michelin-starred L’Esprit de la Violette).

Set to open in November 2018, the new 130-room SO/Auckland will also boast a cafe, Club Signature lounge, SO Spa, SO Fit and indoor heated pool. To find out more, visit the hotel’s website here.
