1. The Ganges, India

Many people find spiritual solace in India, and it's no wonder. India's brightly romantic culture has been calling travel-hungry honeymooners for years and years. One must-visit site on any Indian itinerary is the Ganges River, a sacred site of the Hindu faith. Visit and see locals bathe in the water and make offerings of flowers and petals to the gods. See how this river truly nourishes a nation.

2. Santiago de Compostela, Spain

Take this Spanish pilgrimage, also known as the Way of St James, and prepare to be changed. The World-Heritage listed route stretches on for 780 kilometres across Europe with almost 2,000 significant historical sites and buildings along the way. The whole walk takes about a month – though some people cycle or go by horseback – but you can also opt to walk smaller sections. It's a unique way to spend some romantic time with your sweetheart, but one you'll never forget.

3. Jerusalem, Israel

When it comes to spiritual journeys there's nowhere quite like Jerusalem. Visit sites with huge religious significance such as the Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Dome of the Rock. Visit the "Way of Sorrows" where Jesus walked and visit the sight of crucifixion. No matter their faith, couples will cherish the time spent in such a spiritual location.
