Travelling through Switzerland; photo: Rail Europe

Travelling by rail is one of the most convenient and scenic ways to travel Europe – and of course one of the most affordable. This is especially true with Rail Europe's recent announcement of generous discounts and bonus travel days.

Any bookings made by 31 March 2016 on France Rail Passes will receive a discount of 20%, as well as bonus discounts on city passes and other activities. It's a great bonus for families also; up to two children can travel for free with each accompanying adult.

For the German Rail Pass, until 31 March 2016, bookings for the seven flexible or consecutive travel days within one month will also receive a 20% discount and free travel for up to two children with each accompanying adult.

Until 8 March, Eurostar tickets are being offered at a special rate, and bookings on Eurail Passes made by 1 April 2016 will receive one to five free travel days, depending on the pass purchased.

For more information and bookings, visit the Rail Europe website.
